The 71st Republic Day 2020 observed at Changlang District

Along with the rest of the Nation, the 71st Republic day was celebrated in Changlang district including district headquarter, Subdivision of Bordumsa, Jairampur, Miao and all administrative circles with grandeur and Patriotic fervour. The Deputy Commissioner R.K Sharma hoisted the National Tri-colour in presence of Arunachal Assembly Deputy Speaker, Tesam Pongte as Special Guest amidst a mammoth gathering of government officials, defence personnel of civil Police, 9-Assam Rifles, CRPF, public, students, Gaon Burahs and Parade contingents. In his address, the Chief Guest extended his heartiest greetings to the people of the district on behalf of the state government and district administration and recalled the historic day of January 26, 1930 when Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru hoisted the national flag on the banks of the river Ravi and declared Purna Swaraj in presence of our freedom fighters. It is our foremost duty to pay homage and recall the supreme sacrifices made by the patriots and heroes of our Indian freedom struggle, he added. The Chief guest specifically mentioned the recognition and commendation of 106 years old lady Smti Nathong Sawen from Jongphohate village under Changlang district by the President of India during national voters’ day celebration on January 25, 2020 for her active participation as a voter and contribution in the greatest festival of democracy, who has become an inspiration for both old and new generation. He also extended his heartfelt greetings to Padma Shree 2020 Awardee Y.D Thongchi from the people of the district, who is also a prominent litterateur and served as Deputy Commissioner of Changlang district years back.

He also highlighted the initiatives of various important Central and State sponsored programs and policies in the field of Health, Education, Agriculture, Horticulture and Infrastructure Development viz., National Immunization Programs, Dulari Kanya, Rashtriya Bal Swasth Karyakarm, Chief Ministers Arunachal Aarogya Yojana and Mobile Health camps which have immensely benefitted Villagers, pregnant mothers and children in far flung areas. Distribution of free school uniform and textbooks, self-defence training programs for students and Chief Ministers Samasth Siksha Yojana etc, which have improved the education scenario in the district and state in general. Besides, skill development programs for unemployed youth under DOTCL, BADP, MLALAD, and PMs Employment Generation Program and Chief Ministers Swavalamban Yojana, which have really motivated and encouraged Entrepreneurship as a self-employment avenue. In the field of Agriculture and Horticulture, farmers have been promoted through various schemes for taking up commercial cultivation of large Cardamom, Betelnuts and fruits. Altogether, a whopping 4024 farmers have been successfully registered for availing various subsidies and farmer centric welfare programs. There are 6619 HHs, which have been declared open defecation free under Swacch Bharat Mission, 22 houses successfully completed under PMAY (URBAN) and 60 more houses are under construction. The Jan Andolan Campaign for making Changlang District single use Plastic free is being rigorously implemented for which he sought active cooperation from all stakeholders.

The government most ambitious, people centric program, “Sarkar Apke Dwar” was successfully completed in 2018-19, and around 35 Camps have been successfully conducted in 2019-20, which has benefitted around 13,243 people. The recently concluded eighth edition of Pangsau Pass International Festival at Nampong has been successfully conducted by District Administration in collaboration with Tourism Department which would go a long way in promoting Tourism and Border Trade.

This year Republic Day programme concluded with presentation of various colourful cultural programmes, attractive Stalls by various departments among which most prominent were the Baby Show by Health department and Weapon Show and Health Camp by 9-Assam Rifles, and Games and Sports. The Deputy Commissioner’s Special Prize for the most innovative Stall/Event was also included this year, which was bagged by Education Department.
