Pangsau Pass Challenge 2022, a National Level Road Bicycle Championship Race held in eastern Arunachal Pradesh

Changlang, March 23, 2022: Pangsau Pass Challenge 2022, a National level Bicycle Race championship organized in the eastern part of Arunachal Pradesh. There were 28 enthusiast cyclists from across India participated in the adventurous journey that started from Roing on March 21, 2022 with pomp and festivity. This challenge was envisioned to promote tourism, bring the beautiful Trans-Arunachal highways into limelight and create awareness among the people about the health benefits of cycling.
The Roing local MLA and the Chief Guest of the occasion Mutchu Mithi, and the Guest of Honour ZPM Komji Linggi along with Everester Tine Mena flagged off the Pangsau Pass Challenge 2022. During the flag off ceremony, the chief guest Mutchu Mithi thanked all the Bicycle enthusiasts for participation from across India and wished them best of luck for the entire journey of the Pangsau Pass Challenge 2022 Bicycle race in eastern Arunachal Pradesh.
Welcoming the participants, the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh Pema Khandu tweeted, “The 2nd edition of Pangsau Pass Challenge 2022 begins today. This ultimate adventure road cycling event is being held with an aim to promote eastern Arunachal Pradesh as the major tourism destination.”
There were three categories of cyclists viz, men’s elite, women’s elite, men’s junior. By the end of second day, in the men’s elite, Mohmis Ismail from Jammu & Kashmir secured the first position followed by Vitthal Bhosle from Maharashtra in second and Tendon Michael Terang from Assam in third. In the women’s elite, Kyakya Lindam Kiakia from Arunachal Pradesh secured the first position followed by Roytong Mirip from Arunachal Pradesh and Shine Umpey from Arunachal Pradesh in second and third positions respectively. In the men’s junior, Chemsom Ingti from Assam secured the first position followed by Arshad Faridi from Delhi and Dhenis Hangu from Arunachal Pradesh in second and third positions respectively.
Gracing the closing ceremony at Dapha Valley Tourist Lodge Miao, Minister of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs of Arunachal Pradesh and the Chief patron of the event Kamlung Mosang also attended along with the Chief Guest of the closing ceremony Dr Devansh Yadav the Deputy Commissioner of Changlang district and ZPM Miao as Guest of Honour.
Talking about using Pansau Pass as a stepping stone to re-invent Arunachal Pradesh Tourism, the minister Kamlung Mosang said, “The Government should take up cycling and Pangsau Pass Challenge as an annual sports event along with exploring tourism in general.” There was also an active participation of 10 cadets from Indian Army with a message of “Say No to Drugs.”
The Dapha Valley Tours and Travels in association with Directorate of Youth Affairs and Department of Tourism, and in collaboration with Arunachal Cycling Association under the guidance of Cycling Federation of India organized the Pangsau Pass Challenge 2022. SEED NGO, Kabos Adventure, Discover FarEast, My Tribal Tours were the other associate partner and this initiative was supported by the District Administration, Changlang.
