Drug De-addiction centre started at remote Yanman Village, Changlang district

Changlang, October 25, 2021: Drug De-addiction Centre inaugurated at remote Yanman Village under Khimiyong circle in Changlang district. The program was graced by the local MLA Changlang South Assembly Constituency Shri Phosum Khimhun along with DC Changlang, SP Changlang, DMO Changlang, ZPM and other prominent local leaders and CBOs. The Remote Yanman Village had been grappling under the menace of Opium addictions since a long time and majority of the populace especially the youths had fallen prey to this menace in the absence of other avenues. The De-addiction Centre could be started after the active initiation of Deputy Commissioner Changlang Dr Devansh Yadav. As many as 80 numbers of Opium Addicts were motivated to join the rehab Centre.
A first batch of 26 Addicts were selected for admitting in the Centre from today the October 25, 2021. This is the first such rehabilitation centre at Khimiyong Circle following which other rehabs are slated to start in Khimiyong HQ as well as Lonkey Village very soon. Joining the District Administration in this noble endeavor, the 9th Assam Rifles also donated rice for the inmates to motivate them. All the participating government officers and local leaders also spoke on the occasion while motivating the inmates and offered assistance from all quarters.
However, the district administration warns that any Drug Peddlers caught in the illicit trafficking act shall not be spared and stringent action shall be taken as per existing law of the land.
