DLCM Assam-Arunachal boundary problem

Changlang, October 25, 2021: District Level Committee meeting on Assam-Arunachal Boundary dispute was convened on October 25, 2021 under Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Dr Devansh Yadav in presence of Changlang South MLA Phosum Khimhun, Nampong MLA Laisam Simai, SP Changlang Mihin Gambo, ZPC Kapseng Kungkho, ADC Miao Sunny Singh, EAC Manmao Lekhandu Thungon, EAC Dr MN Taloh, CBOs, NGOS, Mining and Forest Department.

Prevailing Assam-Arunachal Boundary issues along with identification of proper ILP Check gates vis-a-vis Mining Check Gates were discussed through PPT presentation. Student bodies, CBOs and Prominent NGOs also presented their views and put forth their demands before the Committee for improving the prevailing situation. After an interactive session and with active participation of MLAs, Administrative Heads, Mining and Forest Department and CBOs, the Deputy Commissioner directed proper survey works in the Border areas to be taken up by concerned Administrative Officers, Land and Forest Department in coordination with local leaders and CBOs.

Moreover, Integrated Check post for Mining as well as ILP verification by Civil Police and separate Mining Check gates at vital Boundary locations to be set up by the police and Mining Department for plugging any loopholes in revenue pilferage through illegal mining activities. Nampong MLA Laisam Simai emphasized on having regular coordination meetings with departmental heads of the District for having fruitful discussions and coming up with innovative ideas. He, however, advised all to be proactive in their duties for taking the District forward in all spheres. Changlang South MLA Phosum Khimhun while concluding the meeting with his assurance to provide necessary assistance in all ways and gave his valuable views on the age long issue whilst providing his inputs on resolving the existing Boundary issues with concerted efforts and sought cooperation from all stakeholders viz, government departments, NGOs and CBOs in this endeavor.
